Global solutions provider Barnbrook Systems is stepping up its support for the defence sector as it prepares for the Farnborough International Airshow.

The Hampshire-based business will showcase new and upgraded technology and services when it attends the world leading event for the aviation and aerospace industry for the 15th consecutive time in July.

Barnbrook pioneers gamechanging Intelligent Internet of Things (IIOT) technology but also specialises in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) to breathe new life into older defence assets such as fighter aircraft and warships.

Managing director Andrew Barnett said: “The world is changing before our eyes and it is uncertain how events will unfold by the time Farnborough International Airshow opens.

“However, the direction of travel has been abundantly clear for some time with the Iran war just the latest example of geopolitical conflicts recalibrating the global order, disrupting supply chains and driving defence spending.

“Innovation in modern military technology and complex systems continues to accelerate yet there is also a pivot to more cost-effective warfare solutions, such as drones.

“We have also noticed a renewed surge in demand for our own Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) solutions to extend the operational life of older military assets to allow militaries to maintain operational capability until new platforms come into service.

“We are looking forward to speaking to primes, supply chain contractors, militaries and ministries of defence at the airshow to demonstrate how our time-proven and certified expertise can help them combat obsolescence and ensure critical defence capabilities in an increasingly unstable world.

“It promises to be a Farnborough airshow unlike any other in recent memory.”

Barnbrook provides supply solutions and MRO services for components including engine controls and flight actuators for such fighter aircraft as the Tornado, Jaguar, Hawk and Sea Harrier. It also supplies such systems as temperature monitors, inflight refuel sensors and rotary variable differential transformers (RVDT).

The firm, which holds both Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) accreditations, recently won a seven-figure contract over 10 years to supply and provide MRO for relays on Rolls-Royce marine engines on a friendly foreign navy’s entire fleet of destroyers.

Barnbrook’s airshow attendance this year comes after record event in 2024 when it relaunched and unveiled new products including an E:BAG created with fellow technology firm Flair for the safe containment and suppression of lithium-ion battery fires and its groundbreaking BlueDot remote sensing and tracking system for green hydrogen.

Barnbrook’s solutions also include its BlueCube © enabled IIOT refuelling switches for Leonardo helicopters which have transformed the safety and efficiency of inflight refuelling.

LIFT OFF: Barnbrook Systems managing director Andrew Barnett, left, met Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow. Barnbrook is returning to the airshow for the 15th consecutive time in 2026.

Andrew, who is also chair of the South Central Regional Defence and Security Cluster (SCRDSC), said: “It was encouraging to see the government finally sign a £1bn deal with Leonardo to build 23 new helicopters for the MOD in Yeovil, Somerset, recently.

“The government must commit the time, energy and funding to ensure our military is fit to meet the demands of modern warfare and I am sure that this will come into the conversation at the airshow this year.”

Barnbrook, with nearly 50 staff and offices in the United States and Europe, punches above its weight as a prime contractor and subcontractor with multi-national firms, the UK MOD, and overseas governments.

It will be attending the airshow with Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) in Hall1, UK Village, on Stand 1317.

Held every two years, the show  is on July 20-24 and is expected to attract more than 75,000 visitors. Its ‘core pillars’ this year are Advancing Aerospace, Propelling Defence and Pioneering Space.
